Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the quality of materials and components supplied by vendors throughout the APAC region. This role focuses on the development, evaluation, validation, and continuous improvement of supplier processes to meet internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. The SQE will be embedded within the Manila-based engineering team and will collaborate closely with both local and global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify and audit new and existing suppliers across APAC (including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, mainland China, etc.) through process and system audits, and certifications.
  • Ensure correct implementation of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) by suppliers; validate initial PPAP (First Article Inspection) samples.
  • Review and maintain supplier technical documentation (PPAP, FMEA, PCP, drawings, etc.).
  • Report on supplier performance and manage nonconformities (NCNs, CARs).
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement and purchasing to define technical and quality criteria for supplier selection.
  • Monitor supplier performance using key indicators (PPM, rejection rate, on-time delivery, etc.).
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Develop and train suppliers on quality tools (FMEA, PCP, SPC, MSA, etc.).
  • Coordinate containment and rework activities in case of quality issues with received materials.
  • Maintain technical documentation and records related to supplier quality management.
  • Promote continuous improvement and ensure supplier alignment with company quality objectives.
  • Implement improvement plans with underperforming suppliers.
  • Coordinate and conduct on-site visits and audits of raw material suppliers throughout the APAC region.
  • Support 6S, BIQ, and other internal/external audits.
  • Participate in internal workshops, courses, and supplier performance follow-up meetings.
  • Engage in global supplier quality initiatives and contribute to the development of standardized SQM policies and procedures.

Qualifications

 Education, Licenses, and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Required

 

Years of Experience and Knowledge

  • 3–5 years of experience, with at least 2 years focused on supplier quality in a manufacturing environment.

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Beginner knowledge of 3D/2D CAD (SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD 2D preferred), PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to synthesize information and present clearly to cross-functional and cross-cultural stakeholders.
  • Collaborative mindset with eagerness to learn, ask questions, and contribute to team success.
  • Analytical thinking with comfort in reviewing data, user feedback, and market trends to inform decisions.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, or technical constraints is a plus.
  • Ability to integrate with a local engineering team and work in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
  • Proactive in identifying roadblocks and escalating appropriately.
  • Language skills in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Thai, or other APAC languages are a plus.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Travel Requirements

  • 50% ~ 70% travel domestically and internationally required to engineering centers, manufacturing sites, and suppliers in APAC region including Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and Mainland China.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Office and manufacturing/distribution facility environments.
  • May require occasional work in lab or production setting.
